Love Your Neighbor

Jesus summed up all the Law and Prophets into two commands: Love God and love your neighbor (Matt 22:35-40). And for some reason, this can be more convicting than the individual commands He gave at Sinai. And the last few months and especially the last week has revealed in town hall meetings that even Christians fail miserably with the command to love your neighbor as yourself.

Valuable Parents

Ten Commands from the LORD. The middle is the command to honor your mother and father. The Spirit through Paul repeats and elaborates on this command in his letter to the Ephesians. Minor children obey. Adult children honor. Parents lead children to Christ. To model Christ as He modeled God the Father is an impossible assignment. But He gives grace and His Spirit with His commands to those who believe.

God Comes First

First in our allegiance, loyalty, and love – God has liberated His people to be their Protection, Provider, and Guide. And nothing else (money, person, ideology, nor state) can do what He has already done. Thus He deserves no competition for our attention.

Messiah in Psalms

David was a prophet in that the Spirit revealed things about David’s superlative descendant as David wrote his poetry for the Psalter. The psalms are rich in messages about the Messiah. The Kingdom is Here

The King of kings was born humbly, anointed by the Holy Spirit at His baptism by John, manifested with power through miracles and teaching with authority. The King defeated His enemies: sin, death, the devil, and the grave. He was unmistakably proven that He is alive to His closest followers, empowering them to be witnesses of His kingdom. That is the their new commission, testify to the resurrection authority of the King who has ascended to His throne and is coming again in like manner.

Bitterness Healed

Hard of Heart

The LORD warns Pharaoh and the rest of us that it is dangerous to keep rebelling against God Almighty. In His judgment, there is mercy. For those who heed the warning, they can spare themselves some suffering. Better still, those who not only heed the warning, but bring themselves under the protection of God in relationship through His Savior, these people are rescued from wrath and brought into the peace and rest of God.

Preparing for an Exodus

God miraculously prepared Moses to be the deliverer of the Hebrew slaves, but it had to be according to the timing of God and by His means. The natural abilities of Moses were not enough for what needed done. The spiritual training would be as a shepherd for Reuel, the friend of God, the priest of Midian at the base of the mountain of YHWH.

Christ the Image of God

Paul writes to this church to reinforce what they had previously learned of Christ Jesus. He is the perfect Revelation of who God is because He is God in the flesh. God as Creator of all that is or ever has been or will be. Creator of the things that publicly deny Him as Creator. The fullness of God dwells in Him. And He has chosen to reveal Himself through His body, the church, flawed as she is. How shall we live with such a responsibility as this.

Walk in Will of God

Paul prays that church people in Colossae would know the will of God so that they would walk worthy, fully pleasing to Him. Then Paul proceeds to prayerfully describe what God wills for His people to be walking worthy looks like. It is to realize that we cannot, but He can through us.
