Love Your Neighbor

Jesus summed up all the Law and Prophets into two commands: Love God and love your neighbor (Matt 22:35-40). And for some reason, this can be more convicting than the individual commands He gave at Sinai. And the last few months and especially the last week has revealed in town hall meetings that even Christians fail miserably with the command to love your neighbor as yourself.

Lose All to Gain All

We were privileged to have Jo from Thailand preach the word of God for us after sharing about his work in Bangkok.  His message was from Matthew 13:44-46 and includes the stirring story of Jim Eliot.  What is your treasure?  Are you willing to lose all in order to gain the treasure of Christ?

Messiah in Psalms

David was a prophet in that the Spirit revealed things about David’s superlative descendant as David wrote his poetry for the Psalter.  The psalms are rich in messages about the Messiah.  Psalm 110 stands above many in the mysteries it reveals about the coming King and Priest and Judge.  We spend a few minutes unpacking the treasurers of Jesus placed within Psalm 110.

He Came on a Donkey

He rode into town on an animal that had never been rode before.  It sounds like a scene from a Western.  But what is the significance of the Hero on a donkey?  And what is the lesson we should take away from the scene that day as they acclaimed Jesus as their anticipated Messiah, then five days later would cry out for His execution?  Perhaps the lesson is closer to the heart than we care to admit.

Three gifts reveal the Greatest Gift

There’s more going on in the Christmas carol “We Three Kings” than the title.  We find that if we listen to the message woven throughout the carol that we can learn much about the Child in Bethlehem.  The wise men traversed so far to behold Him and rejoiced to worship Him, giving such valuable gifts.  Indeed the Greatest Gift is the King, God, and Sacrifice revealed throughout the song and, more importantly, in Scripture.

We are still polishing up the audio and appearances of our podcast.  We welcome your helpful input that all might be done unto the glory of God.

Christ Suffered for us

In this Easter morning message, we focused on the importance of the anguish and suffering our Savior endured even before the agony of the cross had begun.  For in His seeming weakness, He accomplished so much.

This Easter Sunday was another full Sunday in which I hate to say, but you had to be there to appreciate God’s presence that morning.  I am so thankful for the diligence of our people for a wonderful outdoor service at 8:30, breakfast fellowship, and then well-done music in the 11am worship service.  Click on our Facebook link to see pics from the last couple Sundays and more!

A Most Important Question

How you answer that question is revealed by your life.  God looks on the heart for your answer and all of eternity is at stake.  Who do you say that He is?

This Palm Sunday was a full Sunday for us and a smaller portion than normal of the service made it in the audio.  The microphone on my pocket didn’t pick up the great singing from the Eubanks family, much less of the egg hunts, pancake breakfast, and sweet fellowship and small groups.   Click here to find out more about our friends, the Eubanks.  Click on our Facebook link to see pics from Palm Sunday and more!

When the answer is silence…

A desperate woman asks but does not receive her request, even after asking repeated times.  Yet the trying of her faith reveals a greater persistence and trust than what would have been revealed with an immediate answer.  “Great is your faith,” the Master replies to a woman who would not give up.  Would you?

Pray to the Lord for Laborers

Jesus gives compassion to the lost and needy, in particular those who recognize their need.  But His compassion exceeds the time and place that the Son of Man occupies.  Thus He answers His own prayer by sending laborers to bring His compassion to others.

Grace found Matthew

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warned that most will not find the narrow gate that leads to eternal life.  But showing unmerited favor, Jesus found Matthew when Matthew was not seeking Him.  And after Jesus rescued him, Matthew sought to bring others to His Savior.
