Red Sea Resurrection

The LORD sets a trap, and Israel is the bait. God knows that Pharaoh has still not learned his lesson and already regrets his decision to let the Israelites leave. Pharaoh will send his army and chariots against God’s people to kill them or push them into a watery grave in the Red Sea. But the LORD has other plans. He parts the waters to make a dry path for His people to cross, luring the Egyptians to follow to their own destruction. the morning light showed that God’s servant had brought His people through death and grave to new life on the other side, a resurrection indeed!

Hard of Heart

The LORD warns Pharaoh and the rest of us that it is dangerous to keep rebelling against God Almighty. In His judgment, there is mercy. For those who heed the warning, they can spare themselves some suffering. Better still, those who not only heed the warning, but bring themselves under the protection of God in relationship through His Savior, these people are rescued from wrath and brought into the peace and rest of God.

The Showdown Begins

Moses and Aaron will represent the LORD in His plan to make the Egyptians know that the LORD is God, even in Egypt. And Pharaoh’s stubborn resistance will cooperate in giving God Almighty more opportunity to show Himself stronger than all the gods of Egypt, including Pharaoh himself.

Moses Shares Good News

Moses is recruited by God Almighty for the deliverance of the children of Israel. First recruit by Moses is his brother Aaron and together they mobilize the elders of Israel to believe that the LORD is about to rescue them. But their first encounter with Pharaoh leaves much to be desired. In fact, the king of Egypt has made things worse for the nation of slaves, just as the LORD had forewarned would happen. But God is neither surprised nor hampered by the rebellion of men.

God of the Bramble

Moses had been living on the sidelines in the desert, the life of a Midianite shepherd. But while tending sheep on the slopes of the mountain of God, Moses saw the bramble in flames yet not consumed by the fire. Thus began the conversation that turned his world, and rest of the Middle East upside-down. The LORD God had come down to make Himself known and He was starting with Moses.

Preparing for an Exodus

God miraculously prepared Moses to be the deliverer of the Hebrew slaves, but it had to be according to the timing of God and by His means. The natural abilities of Moses were not enough for what needed done.  The spiritual training would be as a shepherd for Reuel, the friend of God, the priest of Midian at the base of the mountain of YHWH.

Moses traded up

It boggles the mind how Moses willingly traded the power, prestige, pleasure and treasure of Pharaoh’s household in order to identify with slaves. Yet with a hope that could not be realized in this life or even in this world, Moses by faith counted the cost and saw the gain in following Christ. How about you? Following Christ may cost you less than Moses forsook, but it’s still hard to let it go sometimes. But what holds us back is garbage compared to what is offered before us in Christ. Let’s endure together.

The Father guides in the desert

Why does God allow the hard times in our lives?  Does He have a purpose for those dry, challenging circumstances we face?  Moses reminds the children of Israel and us that like a good Father, God brings us through the desert wilderness to test us and prepare us for greater victories ahead, if we will learn the lessons of the wilderness.

What Does God Require of us?

Moses was about to exit stage left and among his parting words to the children of Israel were these thoughts of what God really wanted from His chosen people.  The LORD has the authority to make expectations and hold us accountable for them.  How do we measure up to what God wants from us?  What can we do about it?
