We Need Endurance

The writer of the letter to the Hebrews told his readers, “you have need of endurance.” Why do we need perseverance? Each of the other letter writers also encouraged us to diligently endure trials and tribulations in order to be approved by God and to reach the reward.

We Must Endure

After a severe warning against abandoning their faith journey to Jesus, the writer of Hebrews speaks to those who are in the faith to exhort them to endure. We need endurance to receive the eternal reward. And he encourages them, we will endure like those who have gone before us.

Warning: No Other Way

There is an accountability to the gracious offer of eternal life in Christ Jesus. If one refuses to accept the gift of salvation through the superior sacrifice of the Son of God, the alternative is frightening and terrible. The writer to the Hebrews pleads with his readers who might be on the fence or even tempted to reject Christ that they don’t want face the anger of the offended Father.

Draw Near to God Together

As we draw nearer to God, we find that God is drawing us nearer to His people as well, especially nearer to those who also are drawing nearer to Him. And through faith, hope, and love, we find that as these grow in us, we grow closer to Christ. And we want to draw nearer to one another.
