Paul was so committed to Christ because he marveled over the Savior who died and rose again to save a sinner like Paul. He challenges us as well to live in zealous gratitude to Christ who has made us new, reconciled us to the Father, and has given us a mission of bringing others to Christ.

David was a man after God’s own heart. Yet he was not a flawless man. David sinned with tragic consequences. The apostle Paul was thankful for the generosity of the church in Philippi toward his ministry, but perhaps not why you would think. He was not concerned about having his needs met, Christ did that even if Paul lacked many things we consider necessities. Rather he thanked God that their generosity was fruit of Christ working in them and through them as a part of their worship. Paul saw that contentment in Christ fueled generosity for Christ.
