We live for Him who died for us and rose again.

Paul was so committed to Christ because he marveled over the Savior who died and rose again to save a sinner like Paul.  He challenges us as well to live in zealous gratitude to Christ who has made us new, reconciled us to the Father, and has given us a mission of bringing others to Christ.

Why David confessed his guilt before God.

David was a man after God’s own heart.  Yet he was not a flawless man.  David sinned with tragic consequences. But the man with a heart who pursued God was sure to repent once he was confronted with his failures.  We look at the features of David’s change of mind from sinning to repenting.  He knew that God would accept his plea for mercy and restore the joy of his salvation.   Do we have a heart that yearns for God even after we have let God down?

Prayer to Proclaim the Gospel

Sometimes we giggle at the antics of the disciples while reading in the gospels while admiring their boldness in the stories recorded in Acts.  The change within them was both supernatural and intentional.   They endured the threats from hostile authorities by praying to the Almighty God to give them boldness to continue to proclaim and advance the gospel message of Christ Jesus.  We ponder their courageous prayer as recorded in Acts 4.

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

We were blessed to hear from a good friend of Brad’s, visiting from the 49th State.  Greg Crawford presented to us what a change in perspective the disciples received after witnessing the transfiguration, a change that we need as followers of Christ as well.   A change that propels us back into the world with the wondrous message of Christ.

Christ strengthens us

image from the Bible App and Church Motion Graphics Inc.This is such a wonderful verse that concisely gives us His promise to help us … to do what exactly?  We unpack that question as we see in Scripture God’s promise to help us through faith in Christ, focusing on Christ, that there is fruit in Christ to whom be all the glory.

Contentment and Generosity

The apostle Paul was thankful for the generosity of the church in Philippi toward his ministry, but perhaps not why you would think.  He was not concerned about having his needs met, Christ did that even if Paul lacked many things we consider necessities.  Rather he thanked God that their generosity was fruit of Christ working in them and through them as a part of their worship.  Paul saw that contentment in Christ fueled generosity for Christ.

What are you thinking?

Part two of a two-part series on “You Are What You Think.”  The apostle Paul tackles the two most important conversations – the first is with God and the second is with ourselves.  That internal dialogue in our heads and hearts has tremendous influence over us.  Thus the Spirit says to no longer be passive in following your thoughts but to redirect and lead those thoughts toward virtues.  And to do those things.

Peace of Mind from the God of Peace

Part one of a two-part series on “You Are What You Think.”  The apostle Paul challenges our inner dialogue to choose between worry or peace.  And that is a challenge for some of us.  But God also equips us with reasons to trust Him in spite of the appearances of the circumstances around us.  The Holy Spirit knows how to give us His peace that is better.

Press Forward to the End

Single-minded focus and laser intensity are the impressions we get of the apostle Paul from his letters and the glimpses we get from Luke’s account in the book of Acts.  Yet Paul is convinced that each follower of Christ should whole-heartedly pursue a closer fellowship with Christ each day.  We should strive always forward with Jesus.

When God works in us, we work better

Another profound statement from Paul for us to consider a while.  Work out that salvation within you for it is God working in you to desire and do according to His good pleasure.  We all could use a good workout, especially of our spiritual life in Christ.  An evidence of His Spirit in us is the desire to work towards being more like Christ.

Also included is one more graduate being honored.  We are thankful and love this generation of young people.
