Faith beyond sight

Fireworks are a short-lived thrill.  But it takes faith to live for something eternal because what is eternal is invisible to the eyes of the flesh.  Abel chose to pursue the invisible God with sacrificial worship.  Enoch walked with the invisible God knowing that the LORD rewards those who seek Him.  Noah prepared for eternity by not trusting his eyes but trusting the Word of God.

Just Live by Faith

The confidence given to us by the superiority of Jesus Christ, in Whom we trust, is to valuable to let doubts and discouragement take its place.  Steadfast faithfulness has its reward and is commended by God with righteousness.  Let us persevere like the other redeemed sinners who have gone before us.

The Father guides in the desert

Why does God allow the hard times in our lives?  Does He have a purpose for those dry, challenging circumstances we face?  Moses reminds the children of Israel and us that like a good Father, God brings us through the desert wilderness to test us and prepare us for greater victories ahead, if we will learn the lessons of the wilderness.

Humanity made in Image of God

God made the first humans to be His representatives (image-bearers) within the material creation.  They went rogue and broke the system and we all descend from that catastrophe.  Yet God still loves His fallen image-bearers and is redeeming them and repairing them through the perfect Image of God, Jesus Christ.

Forgiven by God to Know Him

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10).  But what does it mean to fear the LORD?   Yet the psalmist tells us in Psalm 130 that we are forgiven our sins in order that we would fear the LORD.  Perhaps we should reconsider our forgiveness in order to better know the LORD who forgives.

Importance of Weakness

We all face times when the world seems out of control and a dangerous place.  For many of us, the last couple months have seemed such a time.  But in those positions of weakness, as much as we hate them, embracing that weakness gives us opportunity to know God in a more intimate way.  Only then can we know as the psalmist that the LORD is our refuge and our strength.

Praise the LORD

The works of the LORD show that He deserves to be praised.  Those works reveal His character.  Those works compel us to fear God and do His commandments.  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.

Song of Giving Thanks

Regardless of how we may feel, the truth is unchangeable.  And God is unchangeable and always worthy of praise.  We always have reason to give thanks.  Psalm 100 helps us see why.   We belong to One who is always good and has everlasting mercy.

Psalm 91 – God our Refuge

The psalmist reminds us in Psalm 91 that we have no refuge like our God.  He is security when disease threatens and danger approaches.  The LORD may allow us to see the danger.  But when we cry out to Him, He is faithful to His promises to provide for His children.  Thank you, Jesus!

Saved to Uttermost

So Great a Salvation we have in Jesus Christ.  He saves those who follow Him to the uttermost with His once for all sacrifice of Himself and always making intercession for us (that we need), until the salvation is perfected in Him.
