New Heaven on New Earth

This world gives us glimpses of something our heart yearns to experience but never can find satisfaction. I’ve heard that our heart has those yearnings because our heart is made for something that this world cannot satisfy – a new heaven and new earth. We simply are not home yet. But one day, those of us in Christ will make it home

Praise the Lamb

Revelation seems mysterious and just plain weird at times.  Yet as we saw last week, sometimes John is only using a title or phrase to connect his imagery to a rich trove of Hebrew prophecy.  The Lamb who prevailed to earn the right to judge the earth is culminating that dirty job with justice to those who have rebelled against God, cheated Him of His deserved gratitude and love, and murdered those who worship God.  And heaven rejoices that the work in almost done and the victory celebration can soon begin.

New Covenant King

One of the important promises from God is elaborated by the Holy Spirit through Isaiah the prophet as the “Son of David” is shown to be so much more than a better king for Israel. He is a world-changing ruler who brings violence and oppression to an end. And other prophets picked up that theme when describing Jesus and His unfinished business.
