Prairie Oaks Baptist Church is a small town church with the Great Commission attitude.
We participate in the mission of the Baptist Missionary Association.
We are hungry to hear the Word of God from the Scriptures.
Plan of Salvation:
Our disobedience of God’s perfect and good commands is sin, contributing the disorder and chaos of God’s created order. We all have sinned against our Creator in this way. The Creator revealed to us that the result of disobedience and disorder is death, including eternal separation from Him, the source of life and good.
God sent His Son to be born of a virgin, live the sinless life that we can’t, die the death we deserve, and raise again the third day to give eternal life. We as individuals receive this gift of salvation (aka eternal life, forgiveness of sins, being born again) by admitting our sin to God and placing our trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as being our only way to be made right with God.
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved….For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
(Romans 10:9,13)
Our Mission:
Our mission is to go and make disciples, starting in our homes and in our community and reaching the nations from there. Disciples are to be baptized and taught to obey what Christ has commanded. This mission supersedes all other goals of worshiping and loving God, loving our neighbor through service, and preparing the next generation to do better than we have with the mission.
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'”
(Matthew 28:18-20)
Our History:
Prairie Oaks Baptist Church was established in 1984 as a church of the Baptist Missionary Association. Back then, those faithful servants of God desired to contribute to the gospel witness of Jesus Christ in Prairie Grove and western Washington County through discipleship, worship, and service. Some things have changed while others have stayed the same, but the desire to be used of God to make a difference for Christ has not.
Pastor Brad Harris came to Prairie Oaks in 2010 with a desire to prepare the next generation of disciples to make a difference for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are excited to see God at work within us and through us as we write the next chapter of Prairie Oaks history.
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
(2 Timothy 2:2)
